Oversized cobalt satin wrap coat with a leather midi skirt

A cobalt duchesse satin wrap coat with a shawl collar and balloon sleeves, belted over a black leather A-line skirt and chunky chelsea boots.

A coat that behaves like a dress. Cobalt duchesse satin with a soft structured body, a wide shawl collar, dropped shoulders and long balloon sleeves that gather in folds above the wrist. It wraps across the front and closes with a wide self-fabric belt knotted at the waist, falling to just below the knee. Under it, a black leather A-line midi skirt with seamed panels, and black chunky chelsea boots on a lug sole.

This is how to wear a satin coat in daylight without it looking like a dressing gown: heavy skirt, heavy boots, nothing delicate anywhere. It works for a cold-weather gallery day, a studio visit or a winter event where the coat stays on. Keep whatever is under it black and plain; the coat is the outfit. Push the sleeves up to show the forearms, keep the smartwatch and beads, no scarf.

The canvases were blank. I was the only thing finished in the room.
