Cobalt satin one-shoulder dress with sunray pleats

A cobalt satin dress with a sunray-pleated one-shoulder bodice, a cut-out at the waist and a draped tulip skirt that splits at the front.

A one-shoulder dress that is mostly about the bodice. Cobalt satin is pleated in fine sunray lines from the left shoulder across the chest, with a slim cut-out slit under the shoulder strap and the right side of the ribcage open where the bodice meets the skirt. The skirt is gathered from the waist into soft tulip folds that drape over the hips and meet in a front split just above the knee.

It was shot in a concrete gallery with light coming down in bars, which is the right kind of room for it: hard surfaces, one colour. Wear it to a summer opening, a cocktail reception or a late dinner where you will mostly be standing. A thin strappy sandal, no bag, nothing on the uncovered shoulder. The smartwatch and bead bracelet are enough; the pleats do the shine.

The sculpture was steel. We got on.
