Burgundy wool asymmetric coat over a satin midi skirt

A fitted burgundy wool coat with a tall folded collar and a hem cut to a point, over a bias satin midi skirt in the same red.

The coat is dense burgundy wool, fitted through the body with angled seams and a single concealed fastening. The collar stands up high and folds over into a wide asymmetric lapel, and the hem is cut long and pointed at the front, shorter at the side. Pointed flap pockets sit at the hip.

Underneath, a bias-cut burgundy satin midi skirt falls straight to mid-calf, so the only change between top and bottom is texture: matte felted wool, then liquid satin. Black leather ankle boots with a block heel and a side zip, nothing else. An autumn and winter outfit for a gallery opening, a long lunch or anywhere the floor is concrete and the walls are white.

I came for the sculpture. I stayed because the coat matched nothing in the room.
