Cobalt pleated-sleeve blazer with a draped leather skirt
Cobalt on cobalt: a wool blazer with huge knife-pleated balloon sleeves over a faux leather skirt draped and cut open at the hip.
One colour, two materials, a lot of sleeve. The blazer is cobalt wool crepe with notch lapels, a single covered button at the waist and sleeves that balloon from the shoulder in knife pleats before gathering into a pleated cuff at the forearm. It stops at the hip. The skirt is cobalt faux leather with a soft sheen, high-waisted, with a cut-out window at the hip, a front slit and the lower half gathered and draped into a soft bustle at the side.
This is an evening outfit that works indoors, under lamps, in rooms where people are looking. Wear it to a gallery opening or a dinner where the chairs are far apart. Keep the top uncovered and the neckline open; the sleeves already count as jewellery, so nothing on the wrists but the smartwatch and beads. A pointed black boot underneath, not a sandal.
I stood still so the sleeves could have their moment. They took it.
