Burgundy twist top, wool trousers and velvet cape jacket
Three burgundies in one armchair: a satin twist-neck top, sashed wool trousers and a crushed velvet jacket with pleated cape sleeves.
A tonal burgundy look built from three textures. The top is a satin twist-neck with a keyhole under the collarbone, cut close and sleeveless. Over it, a crushed velvet jacket with a damask-pressed surface and long pleated cape sleeves that fall open from the shoulder like curtains. The trousers are a tapered wool crepe with a wide self-fabric sash knotted at the hip, cropped just above a black leather ankle boot with a sculpted heel.
It is a sitting-down outfit for a standing-up season. Wear it to a long dinner in a room with lamps instead of overheads, or to a hotel bar in November when a coat is one layer too many. Keep the metal to the smartwatch and small hoops; the velvet does the talking. If the sleeves get in the way of the menu, push them back and let the tattoos out.
I picked the chair for the light. The books were a bonus I did not read.

styling notes
- Keep every piece in the same colour family, let texture do the contrast
- Push the cape sleeves back when seated
- Black ankle boot with a sculpted heel, not a stiletto
- Small hoops and the smartwatch only
