One-shoulder satin top with leather panels and tweed shorts
A burgundy satin one-shoulder top with black leather panels and a single bishop sleeve, tucked into charcoal tweed tailored shorts.
The top is the whole argument. Burgundy satin draped from one shoulder into a single bishop sleeve that gathers at the wrist, with black leather panels stitched over the bodice in a V that works like built-in leather straps. The other shoulder is uncovered. Below it, charcoal tweed shorts cut like trousers: high waist, belt loops, pressed front crease and a short straight hem.
It is a workshop outfit for someone who does not actually get clay on her hands. Wear it in early autumn with the shorts, and when the weather turns swap them for the same tweed in a full-length trouser. The leather panels mean you do not need a belt or a jacket; the tweed keeps the satin from reading as evening. Pointed flats or a low heel, the smartwatch, small hoops.
I held the pot for the photograph. Nobody has asked me to throw one since.
