Burgundy velvet blazer with a cut-out satin midi skirt

A fitted velvet blazer with peak lapels over a black satin midi with slashed cut-outs at the hip, finished with knee boots.

The blazer is deep red velvet, cut close through the waist with strong padded shoulders, long peak lapels and a single hidden button; the hem flares slightly from the seams so it sits like a peplum over the skirt. Below it, a black satin midi skirt in a bias cut, with two narrow slashed cut-outs at the hip that break the surface of the satin. Black leather knee boots with a pointed toe finish it.

The blazer is worn closed and on its own, so the velvet does the talking and the satin keeps it fluid. It belongs to late autumn and winter nights: a dinner, a bar with low lamps, a house that has seen better days. Swap the boots for a pointed pump and the skirt reads as pure evening; keep the boots and it walks.
