Navy and emerald ruffle top with burgundy wool trousers

The top is satin in two colours: navy on one side, emerald folded diagonally across the other like a sash, with layered ruffles at both shoulders that stand up rather than flop. It is tucked into high-waisted burgundy trousers in a herringbone wool, slim through the leg, seamed down the front, with leather panels at the pockets and over the knees.

Three colours that should not get along, held together by a straight back and a dark room. Autumn into winter, dinner in a hotel bar, a pointed ankle boot in burgundy or black. Keep the hair long and out of the ruffles, and the bag small and dark. Colour clashing is a skill. I just happen to be very good at it.
