Cobalt raw-edge blazer with a pleated maxi skirt
A nipped cobalt wool blazer with a raw, slanted hem over a knife-pleated maxi skirt that opens at the front with every step.
The blazer is cut close through the waist with peak lapels, flap pockets and a single button, then finished with a raw edge that runs diagonally across the hip. The sleeves are pushed up and left to bunch. Underneath, a maxi skirt in the same cobalt wool falls in knife pleats to the floor, with a front slit that only shows itself when walking.
Same colour head to toe is what makes it work: the blazer and skirt read as one long line, and the unfinished hem keeps it from looking like a wedding guest. Wear it to an opening, a long dinner, anywhere with white walls and something to look at. Spring or early autumn, no coat needed until November. Small hoops, the watch, nothing else competing with the blue.
I walked through three rooms of sculpture and nobody looked at the sculpture.
