Royal blue ruffle-lapel blazer with an origami skirt
A fitted royal blue blazer with cascading ruffle lapels and shoulders, over a skirt folded into pointed origami panels. Old town, blue hour.
A royal blue skirt suit where the tailoring is at the top and the geometry is at the bottom. The blazer is fitted and single-breasted, with a notched lapel that keeps going: ruffles in the same blue, lined in a brighter satin, run around the collar and stand up over each shoulder, so the silhouette widens at the top like a collar from a portrait. Long fitted sleeves, flap pockets, a short peplum.
The skirt is cut in matte crepe and folded into layered pointed panels that cross at the front and drop to the knee, more origami than drape. Wear it to anything with an invitation, autumn and spring, a pointed court shoe in navy or black and nothing on the hands. Blue hour in an old town helps; it makes the blue look like it was planned.
The skirt took longer to understand than to put on. Both were worth it.
