Leather and wool peplum jacket with a laser-cut navy skirt
A fitted charcoal wool jacket with black leather sides, pleated leather sleeves and a leather peplum, over a navy laser-cut skirt layered on mesh.
A fitted jacket cut in two materials: charcoal wool through the front panels and lapels, black leather down the sides, over the shoulders and into a sharp, pointed peplum that sits below the hip. The sleeves are leather too, knife-pleated from the elbow to the cuff so they hold their own shape when the arm bends. One button, high on the waist, and a lapel that opens low.
The skirt is navy, three layers of laser-cut fabric in a petal pattern over a navy mesh underlayer, with a handkerchief hem that falls to the shin. Spring or autumn, an opening, a cocktail, a photograph in front of a sculpture that is less structured than the jacket. Pointed boots or a sharp pump underneath, nothing with a platform.
The sculpture had been there for forty years. The jacket won anyway.
