Burgundy draped blazer, corset belt and asymmetric skirt
A burgundy wool blazer with a pleated drape over one shoulder, cinched by a black leather corset belt above a pointed-hem midi skirt.
The blazer has one idea and commits to it: a wide band of pleated wool runs from the collar over the left shoulder, so the jacket looks wrapped rather than buttoned. It closes in a deep V with no shirt underneath, and the sleeves are pushed to the elbow. A black leather corset belt goes over the top at the waist, which turns a soft jacket into something with a spine.
The skirt is the same burgundy wool, straight in front and cut to a long point at one side, so the hem drops from the knee to mid-calf. Chunky black leather chelsea boots keep it from going formal. It is office in October and dinner in December; the belt is the part that does not come off.
This is what I wear to sit in front of a mirror for two hours. The mirror does not get a say.
