Black satin-draped blazer with a burgundy pleated midi skirt
A fitted black blazer with a satin panel draped across the front, worn over a burgundy knife-pleated midi skirt in a lamp-lit salon.
The blazer is black wool, fitted, with sharp peak lapels and flap pockets, but a panel of black satin is draped diagonally across the front from the shoulder to the opposite hip, so the jacket wraps instead of buttoning. Sleeves pushed to three-quarter. Worn closed, with the lapels doing the neckline. The skirt is burgundy, knife-pleated from the waist to mid-calf, and moves like liquid when the blazer does not.
This is office tailoring that changes rooms after seven: meeting, then a drink in a velvet chair under a lamp. Autumn and winter by fabric; the pleats catch the draft but the wool does not care. A pointed black pump, matte, and a long black coat for the street.
Two colours, one of them black. For me that counts as a palette.
