Burgundy deconstructed blazer with raw silk midi skirt
A burgundy wool blazer taken apart and put back with a draped cross-front and raw edges, over a raw silk skirt with a handkerchief hem.
The blazer is burgundy wool, oversized through the shoulder, with its seams left raw and a loose panel of the same cloth draped across the front from the left lapel to the right hip, as if the jacket had been reassembled around a wrap. Flap pockets, a notch lapel, sleeves pushed up so the burgundy satin lining shows at the cuff. The skirt is raw silk shantung in a slightly brighter burgundy, cut with a handkerchief hem that points at the knee and the shin, with its edges left unfinished to match.
It is tailoring for the colder months that works from an office to a late dinner without a coat. Worn with nothing visible under the blazer, no tights, and a pointed heel. The whole look is one colour in three textures: matte wool, slubbed silk, satin lining.
The seams are unfinished on purpose. So is my schedule.
