Cobalt velvet and satin robe coat with buckled overskirt
A floor-length cobalt robe coat in velvet and satin, one bishop sleeve and one cap sleeve, belted over crinkled overskirt panels strapped with leather buckles.
A robe coat in two blues that pretend to be one: cobalt velvet across the shoulders, collar and short right sleeve, and cobalt satin for the body and the single full bishop sleeve on the left, gathered into a cuff at the wrist. It wraps and closes under a wide black leather belt at the natural waist. From the belt hang layered overskirt panels in a crinkled blue fabric, each bound in dark leather and held with pairs of small buckled straps, one set at the hip and one at the knee, over a floor-length satin and velvet skirt underneath.
It is a coat for standing at a window in a room with too many lamps. Nothing goes under it that shows; a flat black sandal underneath so the hem stays the point. Autumn and winter, an event that starts at eight and is still going at two. If a second layer is needed, it is not this look.
Two sleeves, two ideas. I never promised symmetry.
