Cobalt satin puff-sleeve blazer with a handkerchief skirt
A pleated cobalt satin blazer with puff shoulders over a pencil skirt layered with raw-edged handkerchief panels.
A skirt suit in cobalt satin, taken apart at the hem. The blazer is fitted through the waist with vertical pleats stitched down from the shoulder to the hip, a notched lapel, puffed sleeve heads and a short pleated peplum that falls in flaps rather than a smooth hem. Under it, a satin pencil skirt to the knee, and over that a layer of handkerchief panels cut on the square and left with raw edges, so the points hang at different lengths around the legs.
Wear it in full sun: the satin reads darker in the folds and almost cornflower where the light hits, which is the whole point of a single-colour suit. Spring through early autumn, for a long lunch, a civil wedding or anything with a stone courtyard. No tights, a pointed slingback, small hoops.
Monochrome is still my comfort zone. I just changed the colour of the zone.
