One colour, head to toe, and it is not black. A cobalt shantung blazer that wraps and knots into a peplum at the waist, over slim linen trousers in the same blue. Pointed pump. The knot is the accessory. My hands stay empty, as usual. Lunch that runs long.
A cobalt shantung blazer that wraps and gathers into a peplum, over slim linen trousers in the same blue. One colour, head to toe.
The blazer is cobalt silk shantung with a dry, papery sheen. It wraps across the body, closes with a single hidden fastening at the waist where the fabric gathers into a knot, and falls from there into a short layered peplum with an asymmetric point. The shoulders are built up and sharp; the sleeves are three-quarter and slightly ruched. The trousers are slim and high-waisted in a textured cobalt linen with a pressed front crease.
Head-to-toe colour needs plain everything else: a pointed pump in black or the same blue, hair down, no bag. It works for an office that allows a pulse, for a spring wedding where you are not the centre of attention, for a city in strong sun.
I do not do colour often. When I do, I do all of it.
