Magenta boiled wool crop jacket with blue utility trousers

A boxy boiled wool jacket in magenta with blue satin panels and a tan leather strap, over cropped blue cotton utility trousers.

A cropped jacket in magenta boiled wool, cut boxy and short at the waist, with wide notched lapels that fold back to show a blue satin facing; the same blue satin runs in panels down the front, so the jacket reads as two colours from across the room. The sleeves are full and gathered at the elbow by a tan leather tab, and a tan leather strap with a brass buckle closes the front off-centre. The edges are left raw: boiled wool does not fray, so there is no hem to speak of.

Under it, cropped utility trousers in blue cotton twill, straight-legged and high-waisted, with patch pockets and contrast topstitching, ending at mid-calf. Worn in a pottery workshop with clay dust on the shelves; this is an autumn and winter look for daytime, for coffee and errands and anything that involves a long table.

Two colours in one outfit. I need to sit down.
