Cobalt organza puff-sleeve top with satin panel mini skirt

A top in cobalt silk organza, cut with a cowl that drapes from shoulder to shoulder and sleeves that start as full leg-of-mutton puffs at the shoulder and narrow to the wrist. The organza holds the air in the sleeves, which is the whole trick. Under it, a mini skirt in the same cobalt, high-waisted, with a satin panel down the front and a textured knit at the sides, fitted and short.

Head to hem in one colour, so the shapes do the work: the sleeves wide, the skirt narrow, the neckline soft. A dinner look for a rainy night that ends in a diner booth, autumn or spring, with a black pointed pump and no tights. Small hoops, the watch on the left wrist; the sleeves do not leave room for anything else.
