A slow train and one colour. A sculpted cobalt boiled-wool jacket over a full draped midi skirt cut from the same cloth. Black block-heel ankle boots, a fine black knit under it when the carriage is cold. I answer messages at the next station. Maybe the one after.
A sculpted cobalt wool jacket over a full draped skirt in the same cloth, worn on a slow train with black leather boots.
The jacket is cut from dense boiled wool in a hard cobalt, with built-up shoulders, a stand collar that folds back on itself and a bodice of pressed pleats that fan out from the waist seam. It closes asymmetrically, no visible buttons, and the sleeves are long enough to push up. The skirt is the same cloth, full and draped at the hip, falling to mid-calf with the weight of a blanket.
This is travel tailoring: one colour head to toe, a cloth that does not crease on a four-hour seat, and a skirt wide enough to sit in. Black leather ankle boots with a block heel keep it grounded. Worn from late autumn through winter, over a fine black knit when the carriage is cold. Small hoops, the smartwatch and the black bead bracelet; the cobalt does the talking.
I took the window seat. Nobody argued.
