Burgundy wool blazer, satin cowl blouse and pleated skirt
Three burgundies in one: a fitted wool blazer with split sleeves, a satin cowl-neck blouse and a knife-pleated mini skirt.
A single-button blazer in burgundy wool, fitted close through the waist with peak lapels and flap pockets. The sleeves are the point: each one is split along the outer seam and finished with a stiff panel that stands away from the arm, so the silhouette reads from across a room. Under it, a satin blouse in the same burgundy with a deep cowl neck that pools over the lapels, and a short knife-pleated skirt in matching wool.
Worn tonal, nothing to cut the colour, with the blouse left loose so the satin shows between the lapels. Office in the morning if the office can take it, a gallery opening after. Autumn and winter, with opaque tights when it drops below ten degrees, and a plain black boot or pump.
Burgundy on burgundy on burgundy. Subtle was never on the table.
