Burgundy single-button blazer over a satin slip dress
A burgundy blazer with gathered sleeves and one button, worn over a bias-cut satin slip dress in the same colour, in a painter's studio in flat daylight.
A burgundy blazer with peak lapels, a single covered button at the waist, flap pockets and sleeves gathered into a soft puff at the shoulder that settles into a plain cuff. The cut is fitted through the waist and flares just enough to clear the hip. Under it, a slip dress in burgundy satin, cut on the bias with thin straps and a V neckline, falling to the ankle.
Tonal dressing for autumn and spring: the wool goes matte, the satin goes bright, and the one colour holds them together. It works for an office that allows a slip dress and for dinner afterwards with the blazer still on. A pointed pump, hair down, the blazer buttoned when standing and open when sitting.
One colour, two textures. That is as much decision as I make before coffee.
