Rust leather trench coat with matching leather shorts
A floor-length rust leather trench with a cropped double-breasted overlay, worn open over high-waisted leather shorts in the same hide.
The trench is cut long, to the ankle, in a rust nappa leather with a soft hand that creases at the elbow. The top half doubles up: a cropped, double-breasted overlay with wide notched lapels and a stand-up collar sits over the coat proper, with epaulettes at the shoulder and buckled tabs at the cuff. Underneath, high-waisted leather shorts in the same rust, pressed flat with a clean front crease.
Worn open and unbelted, the overlay doing the work of a jacket and the long skirt of the coat moving behind. It is a night look for an old town with lamps and cobbles, from a late dinner to whatever comes after. Spring and autumn, with an ankle boot or a sharp black pump when it gets colder.
Leather on leather on leather, in the one colour I agreed to this year.

styling notes
- Wear the trench open; the overlay is the jacket
- Keep the lapels open and the overlay as the only layer
- Ankle boot or black pump; keep the leather the only shine
