Navy silk draped peplum top with bronze cropped trousers
A one-shoulder shantung top with a draped bodice and a sharp peplum, worn with slim bronze cropped trousers in an artist's studio.
The top is navy silk shantung, the kind with a slub that catches the light: a one-shoulder bodice draped from the right shoulder across the body, one short structured sleeve folded like paper, and an asymmetric peplum that falls to a point at the hip. The trousers are a slim cropped cut in a bronze fabric with a metallic sheen, high-waisted with a pressed front crease, ending above the ankle.
Two shiny fabrics, two colours that should argue and do not. It is worn with the top tucked just enough for the peplum to sit, and the trousers plain, no belt, no cuff. Spring and autumn, daytime into evening: a gallery opening, a long lunch, a studio where the paint is still wet. Flat pointed shoes or a slim heel both work; nothing chunky.
I do not paint. I stand near paintings in silk. The effect is similar.
