Burgundy leather balloon-sleeve top and tailored shorts
A burgundy faux leather top with balloon sleeves, a keyhole neck and a waist cut-out, over pleated tailored shorts in the same red.
The top is glossy burgundy faux leather with a high round neck, a long keyhole at the front and a strip cut away at the waist. The sleeves are the point: cut huge and gathered into deep balloons, they end in narrow cuffs at the forearm. Shaped seams run down the front and keep the line of the top close and clean.
The shorts are burgundy wool crepe, high-waisted with a wide belted band and front pleats, ending well above the knee. Black stiletto sandals with a fine ankle strap keep the lower half light against all that sleeve. Wear it for dinner or cocktails from autumn into spring, with the hair down and nothing at the neck.
The staircase was optional. Taking it slowly was not.
