Red satin fan-sleeve blazer with cropped trousers
A red satin blazer with sunray-pleated fan sleeves and two waist cut-outs, over cropped trousers cut from the same satin.
The blazer does all the talking: red satin, a single covered button at the waist and two sleeves that open into sunray-pleated fans from elbow to shoulder, so the silhouette reads as a half circle on each side. Two small cut-outs sit either side of the button, the lapels are narrow and the hem drops to a point at the front. Underneath, slim cropped trousers in the same satin end a hand above the ankle, with a pressed crease and a clean turn-up.
This is coffee-house tailoring: worn as a suit with nothing else, black pointed pumps and a marble table to lean on. The satin is light enough for spring and autumn afternoons, the sleeves too wide for any coat, so the suit has to be the coat. Keep the rest quiet: small hoops, the usual watch, hair down and straight.
Red is a colour. I checked. It still counts as a mood.
