An oversized rust wool coat with gathered sleeves and two silver snaps, over an olive turtleneck, navy trousers and brown lace-up boots.

A cocoon coat in rust wool, cut oversized with raglan shoulders, a funnel neck that fastens off-centre with a single silver snap and a second snap at the hip, so the front closes on a diagonal. The sleeves are the detail: full through the upper arm, gathered into a deep cuff at the wrist. It ends well above the knee, no belt, two slanted pockets. Under it, an olive ribbed turtleneck and navy wool trousers with a pressed crease, tapered and cropped to the ankle.

Brown leather lace-up ankle boots with a low stacked heel finish it. This is a daytime look for autumn and winter: a studio, a long walk, an office that tolerates colour. Everything here is matte except the two snaps, which is why they read.
