Burgundy leather and knit dress with organza puff sleeves

A burgundy mini dress pieced from leather, ribbed knit and organza, with enormous tiered puff sleeves and a layered hem. Train carriage, lamp light.

A dress built from three burgundy fabrics: panels of worn leather at the lapels, bodice and skirt, ribbed knit between them and down the tiers, and organza for the sleeves, which puff in stacked tiers from shoulder to wrist and stand well away from the body. The lapels are leather and open to a V, the waist is marked with a narrow leather band, and the skirt falls in alternating tiers of knit and leather with an organza layer underneath, ending above the knee.

Seated by the window of an old train carriage, this is autumn and winter travel dressing for someone who refuses to dress down for a train. Wear it with an opaque tight and a knee boot in the cold, nothing else in colour, hair down and straight. The sleeves need room: no coat fits over them, so the carriage is the coat.
