Black and bronze brocade coat over all black

Morning coffee in a baroque coat: knee-length black and bronze brocade over a black turtleneck, slim trousers, flat knee boots and a small black bag.

A straight knee-length coat in black and bronze floral brocade, the metallic thread raised against the black ground, with notched lapels, flap pockets and a single button at the waist. Underneath, everything is black and plain so the coat can be loud: a fine black turtleneck sweater, slim black trousers, soft black leather flat knee boots with a round toe.

The bag is a small black leather shoulder bag with a short strap, carried in the hand. This is the daytime use of a fabric usually kept for evening: brocade over a coffee run, worn with flats and a paper cup rather than heels and a clutch. In winter it replaces the wool coat two days a week; in autumn it is the coat. Keep the rest matte, keep the rest black, and let the bronze do the talking.

Nobody needs a brocade coat before nine. That is exactly why.
