Red satin and leather biker jacket with a black mini skirt

A red satin biker jacket with black leather panels and balloon sleeves, over a black mini skirt and leather over-the-knee boots.

The jacket takes the biker shape and swaps the hide for red satin: a black leather collar and lapels, black leather side panels, an off-centre zip and a snap epaulette on the shoulder. The sleeves are full and gathered into a buttoned cuff, so the satin catches light in big, slow folds. It stops at the hip with a sharp, pointed front hem.

Under it, a plain black mini skirt with a short side slit, and black leather over-the-knee boots with a flat, close fit. The balance is simple: shine on top, matte below, one colour doing all the talking. Wear it for autumn and winter evenings, from dinner to wherever the night goes, the jacket half-zipped and the hair down. In daylight it reads as a bookshop jacket, which is a compliment.

I came in for one book and left with three and a strong opinion about the poetry shelf.
