Unfinished on purpose. A deconstructed blazer, slate-blue satin and cream cotton, every edge left fraying, buttoned as the top. A patchwork skirt with a cut-out at the hip and black pointed pumps. Daylight only; the loose threads need witnesses. Hair back. A courtyard, a long coffee.

A deconstructed blazer in slate-blue satin and cream cotton with fraying edges, over a patchwork skirt with a cut-out at the hip.

The blazer is pieced from slate-blue satin and cream cotton canvas, the panels joined with the seams left outside and every edge raw and fraying. One horn button, a notched lapel, one flap pocket at the hip and the other side left plain. The skirt is the same idea taken further: panels of cream perforated knit, navy satin, black mesh and grey basket-weave, cut on different angles, with a round cut-out at the hip and hems that stop where the cloth ran out.

This is an editorial outfit that is still wearable if the rest is plain: black pointed leather pumps with a high V-cut vamp, no tights, no bag, hair pulled back. Spring and autumn, in daylight; the fraying needs light to read as intentional. The blazer is the top and it stays buttoned, so the shoes and the hair stay quiet.

People ask if it is finished. It is. They are not.
