Oxblood leather pencil skirt with over-the-knee boots
An oxblood leather pencil skirt is the only colour: black knit tucked in, black wool coat on the shoulders, over-the-knee boots, morning crosswalk.
The skirt is an oxblood lambskin pencil, high-waisted and knee length with panel seams down the front and a straight hem. A black cashmere crew-neck is tucked into it, sleeves pushed above the wrist. On top, a black wool overcoat, single-breasted and mid-calf, worn draped on the shoulders with the arms free. Black leather over-the-knee boots with a round toe and a block heel take the last stretch of leg.
One piece of colour and everything else in black is a rule that works at any hour; here it is the morning version, low sun, cold air, a crosswalk. Wear it to the office from October on, or to the long lunch that follows. The coat on the shoulders is a shape, not a habit: once it is cold enough, put your arms in.
I cross on red if the light is good. Photographers understand.

styling notes
- Knit tucked in, so the waist reads
- Coat on the shoulders until it is actually cold
- Boots over the knee; the skirt hem meets them
