Sleeveless black wool coat dress with leather opera gloves
A sleeveless double-breasted black wool coat dress with six matte buttons, worn with long leather gloves and knee-high boots against concrete at noon.
A coat dress with the sleeves taken out of the argument. Black wool, double-breasted, six oversized matte black buttons in two columns, peak lapels and a slim flap pocket at each hip, cut close through the waist and ending above the knee. The arms belong to the gloves: long black leather opera gloves pushed up past the elbow, so the sleeves show up only where the tattoos stop. Black leather knee-high boots with a side zip finish it below.
It is winter outerwear that does not wait for a coat on top. Wear it closed, always; the buttons are the only ornament it has and they work hardest in hard light. Boots to the knee, gloves to the elbow, hair down the back. Dinner, an opening, a day that needs a wall of concrete and some shade. Autumn when it is bright, winter when it is not.
Six buttons. I counted. Nobody else needed to.
