Cobalt taffeta one-shoulder dress with a draped sleeve
A cobalt taffeta column dress draped from one shoulder, with a sculpted sleeve pouf on the other side and two slits of air at the waist.
Taffeta holds a shape, and this dress asks it to hold several. The bodice is wrapped diagonally from the left shoulder, with a narrow cut-out under the collarbone and a second one at the waist where the wrap crosses. On the right side the fabric is gathered into a stiff, sculpted sleeve that stands away from the arm like a folded sail. The skirt is a straight column that drops to the ground, with a heavy fold of fabric caught at the hip.
It is a dress for a stone courtyard in July, which is where it was shot: hard noon light, palms, old walls. Wear it to an outdoor wedding or a summer gala with nothing on the uncovered arm and a thin sandal you cannot see. No bag, the dress has enough to carry. If it is a sit-down dinner, the sleeve pouf needs the chair on its left.
It takes up space on purpose. So do I.
