Burgundy leather top with a black pleated wool midi skirt

A burgundy leather top with a round neck, a seamed princess line down the front and sleeves built like armour: each one arcs out from the shoulder in a single stiff arc and folds back on itself at the elbow, so the arm reads as a shape before it reads as an arm. The leather is matte, with a faint sheen along the seams. Below it, a black wool skirt in deep box pleats, high on the waist and falling to mid-calf, with small rectangular windows cut through the pleats at hip level so the lining and a bit of tattoo show when she moves.

It is a daytime look that does not apologise for the shoulders. Pointed black leather ankle boots keep the hem clean; a thin coat over the top would crush the sleeves, so in the cold the answer is a cape or nothing. Autumn and winter, a studio with paint on the floor, a long lunch that turns into dinner.

The sleeves do not fit through a doorway. The doorway can adjust.
