Colour-block silk puff-sleeve top and copper pleated skirt

A top in dupioni silk, pieced in navy and burgundy: the panels meet on the diagonal across the bodice, the sleeves are full balloon shapes gathered into a deep cuff below the elbow, the neckline opens in a narrow slash below the collarbone, and a small cut-out sits at each side of the waist. The hem finishes in two angled points, one of each colour. The skirt is copper metallic with fine knife pleats, falling to mid-calf. Black strappy heeled sandals with a thin ankle strap.

The top is the shape; the skirt is the light. Worn with the hair down and the sleeves pushed slightly back. Autumn or a bright spring, a long lunch, an antiques hunt, dinner where the table is small. The shantung creases and that is the point.
