A dress that holds its own shape. I like that in company. Cobalt scuba, black leather piping along every seam, rounded sleeves, one pleated panel dropping below the hem. Black pointed shoes, no tights. No coat; the sleeves are the coat. Museum, then somewhere with chairs.

A sculpted cobalt scuba dress with black leather piping, rounded sleeves and one pleated panel that drops below the hem.

The dress is cut from a thick cobalt scuba knit that holds its own shape: a high round neck, rounded sleeves that stand away from the arm and narrow to the wrist, a fitted bodice with a seam under the bust, and a straight skirt to the knee. Black leather piping follows the seams, the cuffs and the hem, and a panel of knife pleats is set into the side, dropping to a point below the hem so the dress moves on one side only.

It is a day-to-dinner dress for the shoulder seasons: too much structure for August, too little cloth for January. Worn here through a street market at dusk with no coat and no tights. Keep the shoes simple and black, pointed, the hair straight; the dress already has the silhouette covered. Small hoops only.

The stallholders stopped shouting for a minute. Then they started again.
