Cobalt shantung and tweed one-shoulder mini dress
A one-shoulder mini dress that splices cobalt silk shantung with grey tweed, folded into panels and flaps, walked through a market at noon.
A one-shoulder mini dress cut from two fabrics that should not get along: cobalt silk shantung, pleated across the bodice and down the skirt, and a flecked grey tweed that forms the shoulder, a wide band at the waist and a set of stiff, folded flaps that stand out over the hips like a peplum taken apart. The hem sits well above the knee and the back is plain.
It is a summer dress for hard light, worn with no tights and a flat sandal if the ground is uneven, a pointed pump if it is not. The tweed takes it out of cocktail territory and into the day, which is where a market belongs. One colour on the whole body and nothing in the hands.
Blue at noon in a market full of red. Someone had to.
