Cobalt peplum midi dress with folded panels and mesh insets

A sleeveless cobalt dress in matte crepe, fitted to below the knee. A wide panel folds across the neckline and down one side like a lapel that changed its mind, and the waist breaks into a pleated peplum that kicks out at the hip. Cobalt mesh is set into one shoulder and down both sides of the skirt, so the silhouette stays sharp and the colour stays solid.

It needs very little: the watch, the bead bracelet, a pointed pump in black or in the same blue. Spring and summer, day events, the kind of lunch where everyone stands. A greenhouse suits it because nothing else in there is this colour. I wore blue to stand among the plants. The plants did not compete.
