Cobalt liquid-satin one-shoulder gown with pleated chiffon
A cobalt liquid-satin gown draped over one shoulder, with a keyhole at the bodice, a mesh panel at the waist and black pleated chiffon underneath.
A one-shoulder gown in cobalt liquid satin, the kind of fabric that looks liquid in hard light. The satin is draped and gathered in folds across the body, from the single shoulder strap to the hip, and where it stops, the layer underneath takes over: black knife-pleated chiffon at the bodice and in the skirt, with a fine black mesh panel at the waist. A narrow keyhole sits below the strap. The skirt falls long and asymmetric, the chiffon lighter than the satin.
This is a gown for the desert at noon, which is not when gowns are supposed to happen. The satin holds the shape, the chiffon moves, and the rock does the rest. Late spring or summer, an event with a terrace, an editorial if someone asks. A flat black sandal underneath; a heel would sink.
Hard light, no shade, forty degrees. I have made worse decisions in better fabrics.
