Burgundy scuba puff-sleeve top and asymmetric skirt
A burgundy scuba top with oversized puff sleeves over a matching textured skirt with a high-low hem and a hip cut-out, worn to a gallery opening.
Two pieces in the same burgundy. The top is thick scuba with a mock neck, dropped shoulders and puff sleeves so wide they read as architecture, gathered into a plain cuff and cropped to the waist, with a single seam down the front. The skirt is a heavier textured knit with a waffle surface, cut asymmetric: long on one side, short on the other, with an oval cut-out at the hip that shows a slice of leg.
The matching set does the work, so the rest stays quiet. One colour head to foot means the shape is all anyone sees: the volume at the shoulder and the diagonal of the hem. Pointed black boots or a plain heel, the watch and nothing else. It is a cold-month outfit for openings, late dinners and anywhere with white walls and something to look at.
The paintings were fine. People mostly looked at the sleeves.
