Burgundy satin ruffle dress with an open back

A burgundy satin dress with flutter sleeves, an open back crossed by one gathered band and ruffles cascading down to a high-low hem.

The dress is burgundy satin with a liquid finish. Flutter cap sleeves sit on the shoulders, and the back is open in two places, split by a single gathered band at the ribs, so the back piece shows in two frames. Below the waist it is fitted through the hip, then two long ruffles fall down either side and turn into a high-low hem that opens at one leg.

It is an evening dress built to be seen leaving. Keep the hair long and straight so it covers and uncovers the back as she moves, and put the effort into one pair of shoes: a fine black sandal or a pointed pump. The satin is the only shine the outfit needs. It works for an opening night, a late dinner or anything with an interval, from spring into early autumn.

The poster was for a show I did not see. The corridor was better.
