Burgundy satin one-shoulder top with a patchwork tweed skirt
A burgundy satin one-shoulder top with a single puff sleeve, over a raw-edged patchwork skirt of check tweed, charcoal wool and floral brocade.
A burgundy satin top cut on the diagonal: one shoulder covered by a short, full puff sleeve, the other left off-the-shoulder, the body ruched across the front and finished in a point at the waist. The satin is heavy enough to hold the sleeve without wire.
The skirt is the argument. Panels of burgundy check tweed, charcoal bouclé and a grey-and-burgundy floral brocade, seamed together with the raw edges left out and the hem falling in uneven points around the knee. Spring and autumn, a late lunch that becomes drinks, a flat with too many books. A black ankle boot or a pointed flat; the skirt is already doing enough.
The window has a better view than I do. I let it have its moment.
