Pleats that cross, satin that falls. A burgundy plissé top crossed at the front and wrapped at the waist, over a black and burgundy satin skirt cut into points. Thin black heel. The skirt catches every draught in the building. Worth it. Drinks after dark.

The top is burgundy plissé, pleated so finely it behaves like a knit. Two bands cross at the front, meet at a halter neck and leave a long narrow keyhole between them, then wrap around the waist and leave the sides open. The skirt is satin in two colours, black at the front and burgundy at the side and back, with a flat black waistband and a handkerchief hem that drops from the knee to the calf.
A two-piece for a warm night, a cocktail bar with a terrace, a dinner that becomes something else. A thin black heel or a flat sandal. No bag, hair down. If the evening cools, a black blazer over it and the colour-block does the rest.
Pleats are the only thing I own that arrive ironed. I respect that.
