Burgundy blazer with pleated chiffon sleeves and trousers
A cropped burgundy double-breasted blazer with pleated chiffon balloon sleeves and a pleated peplum, over trousers with chiffon side panels.
A cropped double-breasted blazer in burgundy wool crepe with peaked lapels, two covered buttons and a hem that drops to a point at the front, finished with a knife-pleated flounce at the hip. The sleeves are in pleated burgundy chiffon, blown up into balloons from shoulder to elbow and gathered to a cuff at the forearm. The trousers match in colour and break the rule in fabric: high-waisted wool crepe at the centre front, with long panels of burgundy chiffon down the outside of each leg, so the sides go lighter where the window comes through.
Monochrome from collar to hem; the only contrast is the texture. A pointed black flat or a low heel under the trousers, hair down, lilac nails. Spring and autumn, an apartment with a tall window and nothing on the walls, a morning that starts late.
One colour, three fabrics. That is as subtle as I get.
