Navy satin cut-out blazer with a crinkled maxi skirt
A navy satin blazer with slashed lapels and open sides at the waist, buttoned over a dusty-blue crinkled crepe skirt that pools to the ground.
A blazer worn as the top and taken apart a little. Navy satin with peak lapels, each lapel slashed so a sliver of air shows through, and the body cut away at both sides of the waist so the jacket holds to the torso by its single hidden fastening. Flap pockets at the hip, sleeves pushed up. The skirt is a dusty-blue crinkled crepe, pleated into a dropped yoke and falling in heavy folds to a pointed black heel.
It is tonal dressing for heat: two blues, one shiny and one matte, in a Tuscan-looking courtyard at two in the afternoon. Wear it to a long summer lunch that becomes dinner, or a terrace event where everyone else went for a dress. The waist cut-outs do the work a belt would; leave the wrists to the smartwatch and bracelet and skip the bag, or carry a small one with a chain.
The wall was warm. I leaned on it for the full twenty minutes it took to get this.
