Green cape-sleeve blazer dress with pleated panels

A deep green blazer dress with open cape sleeves, knife-pleated panels and raw edges, worn in a painter's studio.

A single-breasted blazer dress in deep green suiting, cut with notched lapels and one button at the waist. The sleeves are split open from the shoulder and fall as capes, their edges left raw. Knife-pleated panels drop from the chest and from both hips, and the hem is cut on a diagonal, so the pleats sit over one leg and the plain skirt over the other.

It is worn alone, as a dress, with no tights and the hair down. The green is the whole point, so keep everything else quiet: a plain black pointed heel or a low black sandal, no bag. The raw edges are deliberate; do not let anyone hem them. Spring and autumn, a gallery opening or a long lunch that turns into a meeting.

Colour is news around here. This one made the front page.
