Colour-block trench coat in charcoal, black and bone
An oversized trench coat pieced from charcoal wool, black crepe and bone cotton, worn closed as a dress with the sleeves pushed up, in a sunlit loft.
A long trench coat cut in three fabrics that meet down the front: a charcoal felted-wool panel with its own lapel on the left, a black crepe centre with a deep V closure, and a bone cotton gabardine panel on the right with a classic storm flap, epaulette and a buckled sleeve tab. The shoulders are dropped and oversized, the sleeves are pushed to the elbow, and the coat wraps closed and falls straight to the calf.
Worn as the whole outfit, with nothing showing above the collar, it is a coat that does not need a reason underneath it. Autumn, spring and the warmer end of winter; the office, the airport, a day of walking between both. A pointed boot or a loafer, no belt pulled tight, no bag heavier than the pockets. The three colours do the work; the rest stays quiet.
Three coats in one. I only had to choose once.
