A long black vinyl trench, high gloss, worn open with the belt hanging loose from one loop, over a black wool trouser suit with a sharp padded shoulder and a single-button blazer. Under the blazer, a plain black cotton tank with a scoop neck. The trousers are straight and cropped a touch above pointed black leather ankle boots.

Everything is black, so the finishes do the talking: wet vinyl against dry wool against matte cotton. Worn for a rooftop at dusk with the wind up, the coat catches the last of the light and the suit underneath stays still.
