Cobalt shantung jacket with a leather corset waist
A cobalt silk shantung jacket with sculptural shoulders and a black leather corset waist, over cropped black trousers.
The jacket is cobalt silk shantung, the slubbed weave visible in the light, built with sharp extended shoulders capped in black leather, full balloon sleeves gathered at the cuff and a wrapped front that folds over itself. A black leather corset panel is set into the waist and pulls the whole thing in, ending in a pointed hem. The trousers are black, slim, cropped above the ankle with a notched hem.
Worn at dusk in a market, which is where a jacket this blue belongs: among lanterns, spice and fabric stalls, and nobody asking why. Autumn and spring evenings. A pointed black flat or a low boot keeps it on the ground; a heel takes it to dinner. The jacket is worn closed, and the collar does the rest.
The lamps came on and the jacket won. The lamps were not trying.
